JAKARTA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir has decided on Thursday to fire the head of national carrier PT Garuda Indonesia Ari Ashkara for smuggling of dissembled Harley Davidson motorcycle into Indonesia from France.

The decision came as the country has been striving to advance the performance of the state firms and clear them from illegal acts.

"I will sack the Garuda Indonesia president director," the minister told a joint press conference.

The minister said that he would also look for if any other persons implicated in the case.

Indonesian custom officials discovered parts of a Harley Davidson motorcycle and Brompton folding bicycles on board of a new Airbus A330-900 plane being delivered to the airline from France days ago.

Thohir said that an audit committee testified that the smuggled motorcycle was possessed by Ashkara as he had issued an instruction (to staffs) to look for a classic Harley Davidson motorcycle since 2018, local media reported.

Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that the case has resulted in a state loss by up to 1.5 billion rupiah (some 106,428 U.S. dollars).
