Belarusian president appoints new head of administration

MINSK, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has appointed Igor Sergeyenko as head of the presidential administration, the Belarusian presidential press service said Thursday.

Major General Sergeyenko serves as the first deputy chairman of the State Security Committee.

Olga Chupris, vice-rector for academic work and educational innovations of the Belarusian State University, was appointed as deputy head of the administration.

Natalya Kochanova, former head of the administration, will be sent to the Council of the Republic, upper house of the Belarusian parliament, under the presidential quota.

Valery Mitskevich, former deputy head of the administration, has been elected to the House of Representatives, lower house of the Belarusian parliament.

Kochanova has worked in the presidential administration for three years.
