KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's inflation rate fell below 1 percent in November from 1.1 percent in October, the lowest in six months, official data showed Friday.
According to Malaysian Statistics Department, Malaysia's consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.9 percent year-on-year in November.
Index of food and non-alcoholic beverages, the biggest component of the CPI, increased at a softer pace of 1.5 percent as compared with the previous month.
For the period of January to November, the CPI grew 0.7 percent year-on-year as compared to the same period last year.
MIDF Research said in a note Friday that it anticipated Malaysia's inflation rate to rise to 2.4 percent in 2020, from its estimate of 0.6 percent this year.
The inflationary pressure will mainly be driven by transportation and fuel-related items, which is likely to increase in tandem with higher oil prices next year.
