NUR-SULTAN, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a bill into law that boosts military cooperation with Turkey, the press service of the head of state said in a statement on Saturday.
According to the bill, the two countries would promote cooperation in military training and education, joint exercises, cartography, hydrography, transit of military equipment and medical care based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit, said the statement.
The two sides would also cooperate in peacekeeping operations, military industries, as well as military scientific and technical research.
Mukhtar Kul-Muhammed, chairman of Kazakhstan's Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Defense and Security, said earlier that about 200 Kazakh military officers have received free training at NATO schools in Turkey by far. According to the Kazakh Ministry of Defense, 16 Turkish officers are currently studying in Kazakhsan's National University of Defense.
