TUNIS, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived on Wednesday morning in Tunisia to meet with his Tunisian counterpart Kaies Saied.

The two leaders discussed the situation in Libya and means to cease fire and end the bloodshed in the neighboring country.

At a press conference held in Tunis, the visiting Turkish president stressed that Tunisia will largely contribute to the establishment of peace in Libya, adding that a cease-fire should take place as soon as possible.

"I am sure that Tunisia will have very valuable and constructive contributions to efforts to stabilize Libya," said Erdogan.

Erdogan stressed that the current situation in Libya would not only affect Turkey, but it would have a direct impact on Tunisia.

For his part, the Tunisian president said that he had discussed with Erdogan over bilateral relations between the two countries in several economic fields, including the health and agriculture sectors.

Saied added that it would later be agreed between the two countries to build a children's hospital with the support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency.

According to the presidency, the Turkish president was accompanied by his foreign and defense ministers, as well as his intelligence chief.

Erdogan is the first president to visit Tunisia since the inauguration of Tunisia's newly-elected president.
