LUSAKA, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- At least 21 people were killed in road accidents in Zambia during this year's Christmas period, the police said on Friday.
Zambia Police Deputy Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the toll was a major jump from last year's 13, and the number of injured also rose, from 22 of the previous year to 31 this time around.
The number of road accidents this Christmas, at 139, also surged, from 125 recorded last year, the spokesperson said.
