MoU signed to supoort Brunei badminton: report

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- A landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with a world-famous sports equipment supplier will give a major boost to the development of badminton in Brunei, the country's badminton association said.

According to local daily the Borneo Bulletin on Sunday, the Brunei Darussalam National Badminton Association (BNBA) signed the MoU with Yonex Sunrise Singapore at Mulia Hotel.

Signing on behalf of the BNBA was its president Haji Hamzah while Yonex Sunrise Singapore was represented by its Executive Marketing Officer Leonard Lai Hwa Tong.

BNBA president Haji Hamzah said the memorandum catalyzes for the association to move forward. The signing is hoped to encourage the association to be active in organizing badminton championships in the country.

Through the MoU, Yonex Sunrise will sponsor national badminton athletes and the association in the form of equipment and prizes for competitions organized by BNBA from October 2019 to September 2024.
