COPENHAGEN, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- South Jutland became the first Danish ice hockey team to win an European club tournament following strikes by Canadian MacGregor Sharp and Daniel Nielsen in an exciting 3-1 victory over Cracovia Krakow of Poland on Sunday.

The historic triumph at South Jutland's home stadium in Vojens followed earlier victories over the weekend against Nottingham Panthers from Britain and Neman Grodno from Belarus.

"We had dreamed that we were capable of winning medals and reaching the top on our home ground is a unique experience," said Klaus Rasmussen, CEO of South Jutland in a press release.

The Continental Cup is a smaller European Ice Hockey club tournament and ranks just below the Champions League.

With this triumph, South Jutland qualifies for the Champions League next season.
