BERLIN, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- The German electrical industry is expecting sales of 191 billion euros (210 billion U.S. dollars) for 2019, a decline of around 1.5 percent compared to the previous year, the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI) announced on Tuesday.

Production and incoming orders also declined compared to 2018. Price-adjusted production in the electrical industry between January to November 2019 was 4.2 percent lower than in the previous year while incoming orders fell by 3.4 percent.

"The simultaneous global weakness in trade, investment and industrial production in the past year hit the industry," said ZVEI President Michael Ziesemer.

Only exports by Germany's electrical and electronic industry developed positively and grew by 2.7 percent between January and November 2019, according to the association.

For 2020, the ZVEI expected stable development in a best case scenario.

The aim must be to make CO2 emissions more expensive and cleaner electricity cheaper, and this is the only way to create incentives to switch from fossil fuels to renewables, said Wolfgang Weber, CEO of ZVEI.
