S.Korean president's approval rating falls to 44.9 pct: poll

SEOUL, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in's approval rating fell 2.1 percentage points over the week to 44.9 percent this week, a weekly poll showed Thursday.

The negative assessment over Moon's management of state affairs added 0.5 percentage points to 50.4 percent in the week, according to the Realmeter survey.

The major rival parties saw support scores fall this week. Support for Moon's ruling Democratic Party declined 2.2 percentage points to 38.4 percent, while the main conservative opposition Liberty Korea Party's support rate slipped 2.3 percentage points to 29.8 percent.

The minor progressive Justice Party garnered 4.4 percent of support, trailed by the minor conservative Bareun Future Party with 3.9 percent and the minor right-wing New Conservative Party with 3.9 percent.

The results were based on a poll of 1,508 voters conducted from Tuesday to Wednesday. It had plus and minus 2.5 percentage points in margin of error with a confidence level of 95 percent.
