KIEV, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The flu has killed 13 people, including one minor, in Ukraine since the beginning of the epidemiological season, according to Interfax Ukraine news agency.
Quoting Oksana Koshapko, an epidemiologist at the Ukrainian Center for Public Health, the report said that the number of flu cases in Ukraine also exceeded the epidemic rate.
Most of the deaths were recorded among citizens who had chronic diseases and were not vaccinated, the reported added.
The epidemic peak is expected to be at the end of January or the beginning of February. Last winter, the flu killed 60 people in Ukraine.
