PHNOM PENH, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- The 42nd Convention of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) concluded here on Sunday, adopting tasks for the implementation in 2020, according to a communique.

The communique was released at the end of the two-day convention, which was chaired by CPP's President and Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and was attended by 3,420 party members and officials from across the kingdom.

The adopted tasks were designed to keep and promote national achievements, defend peace and further promote socio-economic development towards a flourishing future, it said.

The communique said the convention assessed that the movements of deeper reforms at all levels and sectors scored great achievements in the past year, especially the reforms of public administration, public financial management, decentralization and de-concentration, and anti-corruption.

Also, legal and judicial reforms have been in striving modes, it said.

It added that to keep the momentum going, the convention uplifted political determination of every level and sector, and of every individual, to continue to implement with a sharp will for deeper and more effective and efficient reforms in every field in accordance with the approach of "reflecting in mirror, taking bath, rubbing off dirt, taking treatment, and even undergoing operation."

The communique said the CPP will continue to carry out measures to strengthen security, public order and social safety so that people will continue to enjoy peace, and investors will still be confident in the kingdom's business atmosphere.

It added the party will continue to support, uplift and strengthen pluralism in international relations and will continue its active contributions to universal efforts for peace, security, and sustainable development.

The CPP has ruled the country since 1979. The party's leadership is currently comprised of 37 standing committee members and 865 central committee members.

In a general election in July 2018, the CPP won all 125 National Assembly seats.
