SINGAPORE, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 1.38 percent, or 43.56 points, to close at 3,200.13.
A total of 1.95 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.26 billion Singapore dollars (about 912.68 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 235 to 171.
The STI index went up 1.29 percent, or 40.26 points, to close at 3,156.57 on Tuesday.
