WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Seven contenders for the Democratic Party's nomination to challenge sitting U.S. President Donald Trump in the 2020 election took the stage in Manchester, in the northeastern State of New Hampshire, on Friday night for the eighth debate this cycle ahead of the state's primary.
The lineup was made up of former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden; former Mayor of South Bend, Indiana Pete Buttigieg; Senator Bernie Sanders; Senator Elizabeth Warren; Senator Amy Klobuchar; tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang; and billionaire businessman Tom Steyer.
At Manchester's Saint Anselm College, the presidential hopefuls clashed in topics including health care, gun violence, economy, and foreign policy, and went after each other over past records, campaigns, and electability.
Full results of Monday night's Iowa Democratic caucuses showed a tight game between Buttigieg and Sanders. Warren, Biden, and Klobuchar rounded out the top five.
The debate came days after the Iowa caucuses, the first-in-the-nation nominating contests of the 2020 presidential primary. The New Hampshire primary will take place on Tuesday.
According to an NBC News/Marist College poll released Friday, Sanders is leading in the Granite State, followed closely by Buttigieg. Warren notched third place, while Biden finished in the top four.
On the GOP side, Trump, who is scheduled to attend a rally in Manchester on Monday, is expected to comfortably win the Republican primary.
