KABUL, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- A suicide bomb explosion rocked outside a military university in western part of Kabul, Afghanistan on Tuesday morning, causing casualties in the snowy day, Interior Ministry spokesman said.

"The blast affected several people, including civilians and military personnel. More information will be shared with media later as appropriate," spokesman Nasrat Rahimi told local media.

The spokesman added that "the number of victims is still being counted."

"The car bomb explosion, which caused panic among residents, took place roughly at 7:05 a.m. (local time) when military students and university employees were arriving and waiting to enter Marshal Fahim National Defense University," eyewitness Ahmad Sameer told Xinhua.

The whole place, in Char Rahi Qambar locality, Police District 5, has now been sealed off. Several warning shots were also fired by security forces following the blast, Sameer added.

The explosion also damaged several vehicles running along the busy road, he said.

Rescue teams, police and security forces rushed to the site and shifted the casualties to the hospital.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
