KUNDUZ, Afghanistan, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Five children were killed and three others sustained injuries as a mine went off in Dasht-e-Archi district of the northern Kunduz province on Tuesday, provincial government spokesman Esmatullah Muradi said Wednesday.
A mine planted by the armed militants exploded in Qurji area of Dasht-e-Archi district on Tuesday evening, killing five children and wounding three others, Muradi said, adding Taliban fighters are behind the heinous crime.
Without providing more details, the official said investigation had been initiated into the incident.
Taliban militants didn't claim responsibility.
