TRIPOLI, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Indiscriminate shelling has hit part of the Libyan capital of Tripoli on Thursday, killing a woman and causing material damage.
The shelling hit a residential area, Tripoli University, as well as the Mitiga International Airport, the UN-backed government's forces and the eastern-based army said on their Facebook accounts, while exchanging accusations for the shelling.
The UN-backed government's forces also announced clashing with the rival eastern-based army in southern Tripoli and seizing a number of military vehicles.
The eastern-based army has been leading a military campaign in and around Tripoli since early April 2019, attempting to take over the city and topple the rival UN-backed government.
The UN Security Council on Wednesday adopted a resolution to endorse the outcome of Berlin Conference on Libya held on Jan. 19.
The resolution also condemns the recent increase in levels of violence and demands the rival parties in Libya to be committed to a lasting cease-fire.
