NAIROBI, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Former Olympic 1,500m champion and three-time world champion Asbel Kiprop from Kenya announced on Monday that he is shifting to motor-rallying.

The 30-year-old, who has vehemently denied using performance enhancement drugs (EPO), is facing a four-year ban after he was suspended in April 2019.

Of particular interest for Kiprop will be a shot at the Safari Rally, iconic Kenya's motor rallying competition, which has been readmitted in the 14-tier World Rally Championship (WRC).

"I'm ready to begin again in a sport that doesn't have doping conspiracy. I will be patient again, climbing this ladder hoping to learn the next game," Kiprop said on Monday.

The former Olympic champion has settled on veteran driver Abdul Sidi, who runs Nairobi motor-rallying academy.
