WINDHOEK, Feb. 29 (Xinhua) -- Namibia on Friday night launched a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) online hub which is meant to be a platform for continuous and meaningful engagement for citizens and stakeholders on the Sustainable Development Goals.

According to United Nations Development Programme communications associate Margretha Kampulu, the hub will facilitate the dissemination of information on the progress of SDG implementation in Namibia across diverse areas and stakeholders.

"It will allow citizens and institutions from across the country to track progress on the SDGs and to identify gaps, which will draw timely attention of policymakers to bottlenecks in program implementation," Kampulu said.

She said, the hub will further allow stakeholders to exchange experiences and best practices, and in turn, will foster a common understanding across national stakeholders.

"This collective understanding will enable coordination among all entities working towards achieving the SDGs. The launch presents an opportunity for the advocacy of the SDG's through this virtual platform. The setup of the launch itself presents an engaging learning experience for the participants and guests," Kampulu said.

The launch will introduce the hub to all UN agencies, stakeholders, civil society, academia, the private sector, the media and other potential users.
