VIENNA, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Two more people were tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Austria, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 16, the Interior Ministry said at the daily press conference on Monday.

The most recent two cases concerned a woman in Vienna, who had contacted the medical radio service, and a man in Salzburg, whose partner had previously been tested positive.

So far, there have been nine confirmed cases in Vienna, two in Tyrol, two in Lower Austria, two in Salzburg and one in Styria.

Around 350 people are segregated, and most of them are in home quarantine, said Franz Lang, Director General for Public Security, at a press briefing by the task force in the Interior Ministry.

The majority of infections take a mild course, but the illness of a 72-year-old who has been treated in the intensive care unit in Vienna for some time is considered to be severe. The source of his infection is still not clear, according to the press briefing.
