Uzbek president appoints investment minister as deputy PM

TASHKENT, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has appointed the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov as Uzbekistan's deputy prime minister for investment and foreign economic relations, Uzbek Justice Ministry said Thursday.

Earlier this week, Umurzakov's candidacy was approved by the Uzbek parliament.

In addition to the current tasks of attracting investments, stimulating exports, regulating foreign trade and coordinating foreign economic relations, Umurzakov was also entrusted with the work of coordinating the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the ministry said.

Umurzakov, 43, was appointed as the minister of investment and foreign trade in January 2019.
