DHAKA, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh has confirmed two more cases of COVID-19, said a senior Health Ministry official on Saturday night.

ASM Alamgir, principal scientific officer of Bangladesh's Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) under the Ministry of Health, told Xinhua that "two new cases were certified."

He said the two patients arrived in Bangladesh recently from Italy and Germany and have been put in quarantine.

He did not elaborate on the details of the two people.

A total of three cases were confirmed on March 8 in Bangladesh. Two of the victims are Bangladeshi returnees from Italy while another one is their family member in Dhaka.

Professor Meerjady Sabrina Flora, head of the IEDCR, said Saturday that two of the three patients had fully recovered from the disease, while the third patient was diagnosed negative on Friday.

IEDCR will conduct another test to confirm if the third patient has fully recovered, she added.
