ISLAMABAD, March 25 (Xinhua) -- A tanker carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) exploded in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore, leaving at least seven people injured on Wednesday, local media reported.
According to the reports, the LPG tanker exploded and caught fire after a road mishap in Shahdara area of Lahore, the capital of eastern Punjab province.
The huge fire engulfed a fuel station, several nearby shops and vehicles parked on the roadside.
Rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the injured, including a traffic policeman, to a hospital where a majority of them were reportedly in critical condition.
Firefighters succeeded in extinguishing the fire after an hour.
A police officer told media that the area escaped from a big loss due to less number of people on the road as the government had imposed lockdown to counter the spreading COVID-19 pandemic.
