BANGKOK, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Ministry of Public Health reported one more COVID-19 death and 91 new patients on Friday, raising the total number of cases in the country to 1,136.
The death toll in Thailand now stands at five.
Meanwhile, 11 people are still critically ill and have been placed on ventilators.
Ninety-seven patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
The health ministry said the infections were found in 52 provinces.
"The first group of 30 people either had close contact with previous patients or visited the places where patients had been," the ministry said in a statement. "They consist of five visitors to boxing stadiums, seven to entertainment venues, 18 people in close contact with COVID-19 patients."
The second group comprises 19 people, including 10 returnees from foreign countries, five people who were in crowded areas or worked closely with foreigners and four other patients.
Forty-two cases are still under investigation.
With an emergency decree enforced since Wednesday, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Friday reminded all Thais that the next several weeks or months will be difficult as more stringent measures are going to affect their daily lives.
Prayut urged all Thai people to give full cooperation with the government and practice social distancing everywhere they can.
"I am in charge of the fight against the contagion, from prevention and treatment to rehabilitation, and will report and update to the Thai people of the progress until we can fully contain COVID-19," he said.
