ULAN BATOR, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's National Center for Communicable Disease (NCCD) said Saturday that one more Mongolian citizen has tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total confirmed cases to 12 in the country.
A Mongolian citizen who arrived on a chartered flight from Istanbul last week tested positive for COVID-19, Dulmaa Nyamkhuu, head of the NCCD, told a press conference.
On March 15, Mongolia started evacuating its citizens from some COVID-19-hit countries and regions, including South Korea, Japan and Europe, on chartered flights.
So far, the country has evacuated a total of nearly 1,000 citizens.
A French national tested positive for the novel coronavirus on March 10, becoming the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Mongolia.
The other 11 confirmed cases are Mongolian nationals who returned home on chartered flights from abroad.
