PHNOM PENH, March 31 (Xinhua) -- The Cambodian government on Tuesday decided to give tax breaks for three months to aviation companies to help offset losses caused by the COVID-19, according to a press statement.
"Cambodia's aviation companies will be provided a minimum tax exemption for three months, starting from March to May, 2020," the statement said.
It added that the companies are also allowed to defer payment of fees for civil aviation for six months.
According to the statement, the government also granted a three-month tax holiday, from March to May, for hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and tour companies in capital Phnom Penh and in Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Kep and Kampot provinces, as well as in Bavet and Poipet cities.
It added that the government will help pay 20 percent of the 190-U.S.-dollar monthly minimum wage to workers and employees if factories, hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, and tour companies they work with are temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The government also called on landlords to neither terminate lease contracts nor force renters out of their home if the renters could not afford to pay the rent on time.
Cambodia has so far recorded a total of 109 confirmed cases of COVID-19, said a Ministry of Health's statement on Tuesday, adding that 23 of them have recovered.
