KIEV, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine on Monday reported a total of 9,009 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 220 deaths, the country's health ministry said.

As of Tuesday, 614 children and 1,749 health workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19. In the past 24 hours, 392 people have tested positive for COVID-19, while 864 patients have recovered.

Currently, a total of 2,833 coronavirus patients are hospitalized, including 124 children and 294 health workers. Among them, 110 people are on ventilators.

"We plan to increase PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing. Currently, we do about 5.5 to six thousand tests per day. The task is to increase the number up to eight to ten thousand tests per day in the near future," Ukrainian Health Minister Maksym Stepanov told a news briefing in Kiev on Monday.

On April 22, the Ukrainian government extended its quarantine measures until May 11, and plans to ease restrictions if the number of coronavirus cases reduces. Enditem
