JAKARTA, June 15 (Xinhua) -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 1,017 within one day to 39,294, with the death toll adding by 64 to 2,198, Achmad Yurianto, a Health Ministry official, said at a press conference here on Monday.

According to him, 592 more people had been discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 15,123.

Within the past 24 hours, five provinces -- Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, South Kalimantan and South Sulawesi -- recorded a high number of cases, Yurianto said, adding that the high number was recorded mainly due to massive contact tracings for COVID-19 in the provinces.

However, no more positive cases were found in 11 provinces, namely, Aceh, Jambi, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Bangka Belitung, Lampung, West Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara, West Sulawesi and Papua.

The Indonesian government is preparing for the new normal scheme under which the public will be allowed to resume their routines.
