JUBA, March 16 (Xinhua) -- South Sudan has suspended all football activities in the country over concerns about the spread of COVID-19.
Francis Amin, president of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) said all local and international football matches have been halted until further notice as a precautionary measure.
The renovation of the country's Juba national stadium will also be affected as the construction materials are imported from China and Italy which are both on South Sudan's list of travel restricted nations over the COVID-19 pandemic.
"All national and international football games are suspended, with exception of South Sudan's cup final to be played without the presence of fans," Amin said in a statement Monday.
South Sudan has no case of the coronavirus but neighboring Sudan, Ethiopia and Kenya, have all reported confirmed COVID-19 cases.
