Namibia president appoints new central bank governor

WINDHOEK, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Namibian President Hage Geingob on Tuesday announced the appointment of Johannes Gawaxab as the new governor of the Bank of Namibia (BoN).

Geingob at an announcement event at the State House said that Gawaxab's term will commence effective June 1 and he is expected to serve for a period of 18 months.

Gawaxab is the former managing director of Old Mutual Africa and he will replace Iipumbu Shiimi, who was been appointed as Minister of Finance last month. Enditem
