HARARE, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe added 60 new COVID-19 deaths on Monday, marking the highest ever number of deaths.
The new deaths bring the country's death toll to 773, while 689 new COVID-19 cases reported raised the country's tally to 27,892, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said in a statement Tuesday morning.
It said all new cases are due to local infections.
A total of 17,372 people in the country have so far recovered from the virus.
Zimbabwe is under a new 30-day nationwide lockdown due to end on Jan. 31, aimed at curbing the rapid spread of the virus. Enditem
