ADDIS ABABA, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopia reported 841 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 160,813, the country's health ministry said on Tuesday.
The ministry said 13 new deaths were recorded in the same period, bringing the national death toll to 2,386.
The East African country reported 902 more recoveries, taking the national count of COVID-19 recoveries to 136,079.
Ethiopia, Africa's second most populous nation, has so far reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the East African region.
The government has been urging the public to implement COVID-19 precautionary measures to contain the spread of the virus.
Ethiopia has so far conducted 2,146,457 COVID-19 tests, said the ministry. Enditem
