RABAT, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Morocco on Tuesday recalled its ambassador to Spain for consultations, the official news agency MAP reported.

The agency disclosed no further details on the reasons behind the Moroccan government's decision to recall Karima Benyaich.

Earlier on Tuesday, Benyaich was summoned to the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid, at a time when thousands of Moroccans entered Ceuta, the Spanish enclave in northern Morocco, in the past two days.

Moroccan media reports estimated that more than 8,000 people have entered Ceuta from Morocco since Monday. Enditem
