DAR ES SALAAM, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa on Tuesday launched the country's third national development plan in the capital Dodoma.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office said the 2021/2022-2025/2026 plan is worth about 114.8 trillion Tanzanian shillings (about 495 billion U.S. dollars).

Majaliwa said out of the total amount, 40.6 trillion shillings will be sourced from the private sector, including development partners, and 74.2 trillion shillings will be secured from domestic sources.

He said the plan will focus on realization of an inclusive and competitive economy, deepening industrialization and service provision, investment and trade promotion, human development and skills development.

"This plan will be implemented to the letter," said Majaliwa, warning officials who attempt to derail implementation of the plan through corrupt practices, facilitating tax evasion or embezzlement of funds will be punished heavily.

In promoting a competitive and inclusive economy, he said, priority will be given to the development of railways, roads, bridges, marine and air transport, and energy sector. Enditem
