NEW DELHI, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- India's Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has received a total number of 612 e-complaints of sexual harassment of women at workplace in the last two years through its new online complaint management system, according to an official statement.

Out of the 612 complaints by women, 196 complaints were from the central government, 103 from the state governments and 313 from the private organizations, it said.

In 2017, MWCD launched an online complaint management system titled Sexual Harassment electronic Box or SHe-Box (www.shebox.nic.in) for registering complaints related to sexual harassment of women at workplace.

SHe-Box is an effort of the government of India to provide a single window access to every woman, irrespective of her work status, whether working in organised or unorganised, private and public sector, including central or state ministries and districts, to facilitate the registration of complaint related to sexual harassment at workplace and for their speedy disposal.

This information was provided by Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Zubin Irani in a written reply in the Upper House of Indian Parliament, or Rajya Sabha, on July 25.
