ISLAMABAD, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday held a telephone conversation with his Finnish counterpart Pekka Haavisto and was invited to attend an international conference on Afghanistan that is scheduled to be held in Geneva, Switzerland later this month, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan said.
Qureshi described the conference as a "welcoming and important initiative" for durable peace and security in Afghanistan, a Pakistani foreign ministry statement said.
The two foreign ministers agreed to continue consultations regarding the Afghan peace process and regional security, the statement added.
"Pakistan is making sincere efforts for peace in Afghanistan and in the region," the statement quoted Qureshi as saying. Enditem
