Mongolia reports highest daily number of COVID-19 cases

ULAN BATOR, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia registered 61 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest number of daily infections reported since the pandemic started in the country, raising the total to 1,989, authorities said Saturday.

The latest cases were locally transmitted or detected in the country's capital Ulan Bator, which is hardest hit by the outbreak, the country's National Center for Communicable Diseases said in a statement.

Meanwhile, 19 more patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the national count to 1,449, the center said.

The Asian country has so far recorded four COVID-19-related deaths since confirming its first case of COVID-19 in March 2020. Enditem
