JAKARTA, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- The continuous Beam of Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR)'s No. 2 Bridge was successfully closed on Monday, marking the significant progress of the critical alignment control engineering of the project.

A statement released by KCIC, a joint venture consortium by Chinese and Indonesian state-owned firms that runs the 142.3-km HSR, said on Tuesday that the 145.6-meter-long continuous beam with three spans is closed on two main piers after 229 days of construction.

It is one of the critical control projects of the whole alignment as the bridge is crossing existing underground cables, gas pipelines and oil pipelines, making it complex and difficult for the relocation and construction process, according to KCIC.

With a speed of 350 km per hour, the high-speed railway built with the Chinese technology will cut the journey between Jakarta and Bandung, the capital of West Java province, from more than three hours to around 40 minutes. Enditem
