India's COVID-19 tally rises to 11,285,561

NEW DELHI, March 11 (Xinhua) -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 11,285,561 on Thursday as 22,854 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

According to the official data, the death toll mounted to 158,189 as 126 COVID-19 patients died since Wednesday morning.

There are still 189,226 Active Cases in the country, while 10,938,146 people have been discharged so far from hospitals after medical treatment.

There was an increase of 4,628 Active Cases during the previous 24 hours, even as the south-western state of Maharashtra witnessed an increase of 3,692 cases while the northern state of Punjab saw an increase of 880 cases.

As many as 224,258,293 tests were conducted till Wednesday, out of which 778,416 tests were conducted on Wednesday alone, said the latest data issued by the Indian Council of Medical Research on Thursday. Enditem
