TASHKENT, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan will reduce management personnel for state governing and administration bodies by 15 percent to reduce bloat, a resolution signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said Monday.

The ministries and other government organizations are instructed to reduce and revise the responsibilities of management personnel within a month.

The resolution will affect more than five thousand state employees in the Central Asian nation, local media reports said.

The same resolution has disbanded the country's Capital Market Development Agency, created two years ago to regulate the securities market, and transferred its functions to the finance ministry.

The document also proposes a 10 percent personnel reduction in joint-stock companies where state shares comprise 50 percent or more.

Mirziyoyev has been opening up the country's economy for foreign investors since taking office in 2016 and has undertaken a series of reforms, including in state management. Enditem
