MANILA, June 14 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.9 struck Bukidnon province in the southern Philippines Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The institute said the quake, which struck at 22:38 local time (14:38 GMT), hit 9 km northwest of Kadingilan town with a depth of 8 km.
The tremor was also felt in neighboring cities and South Cotabato province on Mindanao island.
The Philippines has frequent seismic activity due to its location along the Pacific "Ring of Fire." Enditem
