JAKARTA, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's economic liquidity or money supply in broad sense (M2) in May 2021 was recorded at 6,994.9 trillion rupiahs (some 485.04 billion U.S. dollars), up 8.1 percent year-on-year, lower than 11.5 percent in the previous month, according to the central bank Bank Indonesia.
The slowing down occurred in the majority of components of the money supply in narrow sense (M1) and quasi money, the head of Bank Indonesia's Communications Department Erwin Haryono said in a statement on Tuesday.
The M1 in May 2021 grew by 12.6 percent year-on-year, lower than 17.4 percent in April 2021, Haryono said, adding that the growth of quasi money also decelerated from 9.7 percent in the previous month to 6.8 percent in May 2021.
Based on the influencing factors, the slowdown in M2 in May 2021 was mainly affected by the deceleration in net foreign assets which grew by 6.4 percent year-on-year, slower than 10.7 percent in April 2021, he noted.
Haryono also pointed out that net receivables to the central government grew 61.4 percent year-on-year, higher than the previous month's growth of 45.0 percent. Enditem
