PHNOM PENH, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's COVID-19 case total has risen to 70,419 on Thursday after 811 fresh infections were reported across the country, the Ministry of Health (MoH) said in a statement.

The new infections included 511 local cases and 300 imported cases, the ministry said.

Twenty more fatalities had been confirmed, bringing the overall death toll to 1,188, it said, adding that 798 patients had recovered, taking the total number of recoveries to 62,577.

MoH's secretary of state and spokeswoman Or Vandine said it was noted that currently, most of the infections occurred at the closed spaces, crowded places and close-contact settings.

"Please implement 3 don'ts strictly if we want to bring down the number of cases & deaths," she wrote on Twitter. "Do not go to crowded places, do not go to closed places, and do not hug or shake hands in greeting."

The Southeast Asian nation began a COVID-19 inoculation drive on Feb. 10.

Vandine said so far, 6.33 million people, or 63.3 percent of the 10 million targeted adult population in the country, have been vaccinated. Enditem
