Brunei records 178.6-pct total trade increase in June 2021

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Brunei recorded 3,154.9 million Brunei dollars (2,348.4 million U.S. dollars) total trade for June 2021, a 178.6 percent year-on-year increase.

The latest International Merchandise Trade Statistics released on Thursday by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics at the Ministry of Finance and Economy showed that Brunei's exports increased by 145.8 percent year-on-year to 1,320.7 million Brunei dollars, which was mainly due to the increase in mineral fuel exports.

Mineral fuels recorded the highest contribution of total exports (75.1 percent) with a value of 991.8 million Brunei dollars.

Imports increased by 208.2 percent year-on-year to 1,834.2 million Brunei dollars.

The highest share of exports in June 2021 went to Singapore (27.4 percent), followed by China (23.1 percent) and Japan (18.0 percent).

The highest share of imports in June 2021 was from Saudi Arabia (60.7 percent), followed by Russia (11.1 percent) and Malaysia (7.9 percent). (1 Brunei dollar equals about 0.74 U.S. dollar) Enditem
