Vietnam reports 3,092 new COVID-19 cases, 853,842 in total

HANOI, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam reported 3,092 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, including 3,088 locally transmitted and four imported, according to the country's Ministry of Health.

Most of the community cases were detected in southern localities, including 909 in Ho Chi Minh City, 647 in Dong Nai province, and 483 in Binh Duong province.

The health authorities also confirmed another 1,059 infections detected earlier in the southern Soc Trang province.

The new infections altogether brought the country's total tally to 853,842, with 20,950 deaths, the ministry said.

Nationwide, as many as 788,005 COVID-19 patients have recovered, while nearly 57.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

As of Thursday, Vietnam has registered a total of 849,197 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases since the start of the current wave in late April. Enditem
