PRAGUE, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis said Monday that he hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China in epidemic control and treatment.

Babis made the remarks at the Prime Minister's House when meeting with Chinese Ambassador Zhang Jianmin to discuss the current COVID-19 outbreak, according to a press release by Chinese embassy.

Speaking highly of China's effective prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic, Babis said he hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China as the Czech Republic is going all out in its fight against the epidemic.

Zhang said that China appreciates the valuable support of the Czech government and Czech people from all walks of life after the COVID-19 outbreak in China.

While continuing its vigorous efforts in epidemic prevention and control, China is ready to share its experience with the Czech Republic and provide support and assistance within its capabilities, Zhang said.

"Through the joint efforts of the international community, we will be able to overcome the epidemic," he said.

Both sides agreed that deepening mutual trust and cooperation between China and the Czech Republic is in the common interest of the two peoples.

As of Monday the coronavirus has infected 298 people in the Czech Republic, up from 293 on the previous day.
