KIEV, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine and the United Kingdom have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in military and military-technical areas, the Interfax news agency reported on Wednesday.
The memorandum, signed by Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Taran and British Secretary of State for Defense Ben Wallace, stresses cooperation in the defense industry, with Britain providing funding of 1.25 billion pounds (1.61 billion U.S. dollars) to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities.
The memorandum provides for a significant increase in efficiency and shortens the time frame for implementing joint projects in the defense sphere, according to reports.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is on a two-day official visit in Britain from Wednesday to Thursday, during which he will hold talks with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle. Enditem
