MOSCOW, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Russia recorded 23,270 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 6,218,502, the official monitoring and response center said Thursday.
The nationwide death toll grew by 799 to 156,977, while the number of recoveries increased by 20,834 to 5,568,363, it said.
According to the center, Moscow, Russia's worst-hit region, reported 3,356 new cases, taking its total to 1,499,131.
Anna Popova, head of Russia's consumer rights and human well-being watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said Wednesday that around 20 million people in the country have been fully vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine, around 1 million with EpiVacCorona, and about 300,000 with the CoviVac jabs.
Popova added that 10 Russian regions have recorded a decline in COVID-19 infections. Enditem
