Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has given an interview with Al-Jazeera during a ministerial meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum in Beijing where he spoke about China and Arab states working together on construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Wang Yi said Arab countries and the Middle East occupy a strategic place in building the Belt and Road. He said they will not just be ideal partners in construction of the project for common development and rejuvenation, but also safeguard common interests and make international relations more democratic.
He added China has a wealth of quality industrial capacity and mature technologies that it can offer other countries. China can also provide personnel training and financial support. Countries in Eurasia, including the Middle East countries, will find China an ideal partner in the industrialization process.
He added that the Silk Road Economic Belt has three general dimensions - connectivity, production capacity cooperation and cultural and people-to-people exchange. The goal is to connect the Eurasian continent more closely by rail, road, air. Another aim is to create conditions for development and to raise industrialization levels. And in addition to that, to conduct diverse cultural exchanges along the route to increase mutual understanding and friendship, and solidify public support for their relations.
