NEW DELHI, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- As many as 100 children have been hospitalised due to suspected food poisoning in the eastern Indian state of Bihar, officials said Tuesday.

The incident took place at Pathai village in the state's Begusarai district.

"The children, aged between five and 12 years, complained of stomach pain and vomited after eating food at a religious event in the village late Monday evening," a health official said.

"Later in the night, they were rushed to hospitals. All the children are now out of danger but undergoing treatment," the official added.

A probe has been ordered into the incident, he said.
